The best restaurants

Our selection at Bastille and  near Gare de Lyon

Cotte Roti

One of the best French restaurants rue de Cotte, near Bastille and Gare de Lyon :

The Chef at Cotte Roti, Nicolas Michel, went through training with Marc Meneau (3 stars in the Michelin guidebook), Bernard Pacaud (L’Ambroisie, 3 stars Michelin), and Patrick Pignol (2 stars Michelin)…therefore, no need to say how fine his cuisine is at Cotte Roti.

The formula: Starter / Main course / Dessert at Cotte Roti for 46€ is more than attractive. A short menu with a choice of 4 starters, 5 main course dishes and 4 desserts will satisfy everybody : smoked Lisette (a small mackerel) / grilled /popcorn / rhubarb and barbecue seasoning OR Beef tartare revisited with haddock / chantilly and black sesame ? Unless you prefer « l’œuf  parfait à la poutargue, prune et beurre blanc fumé » (egg with fish-roe, plum and smoked beurre blanc) or the lovely white season asparagus with Mangalitza ham, from Hungarian pork which is said to be the best in the world (have a look at this animal on Google Image, it’s amazing…and above all delicious !!!).

Cod backs frosted with morel mushrooms and Vin Jaune is just fabulous ! I’ll have to come back soon to try  the monkfish curry sauce vierge, almonds, raisins and pakchoï cabbage, or veal quasi with cockles, black garlic and parmesan…I will !

With its modern and refined decor, its sharp contemporary cuisine, its service both informal and professional, Cotte Roti is undoubtedly one of  the very best French restaurants in Bastille / Gare de Lyon district.
